Setting Up a Virtual Event

Step 1 - Create an Event

Start by creating an event from your Mission Control.  You may need to contact Cause Machine to open permissions for hosting a Virtual Event depending on your subscription plan. If your virtual event will have more than 100 individuals in attendance please contact us so that we can monitor your event and scale up our server size if needed.

Step 2 - Load General Information

Next enter general information to get your event initially setup.  This step is one page and will take you just a few minutes to complete.  Here's what you need to get started:

  • Event Name - What is the title you want people to see for this event?
  • Date Range - Enter the event start and end date and time (make sure to enter the time zone too)
  • Event Image - Upload a cover image for your event
  • Add Tickets - Add at least 1 ticket if users should be able to register for this event. For more advanced options (creating a pricing schedule, minimum quantities, etc) go to the Attendee Pricing page after completing the wizard.
  • Preview & Publish - Set if your event is Public or Private, Preview and Publish your event.
  • For further settings, select Advanced Settings or go to your newly created Event.

Step 3 - Publish

Once you have Published your event, you can go to your Event and make input additional information. complete, click publish (or save as draft if desiring to keep the site in a draft mode). On the left, you will see your Event Dashboard and Checklist. The Dashboard will bring you to this screen below. The Checklist will be useful to ensure that your Event is set up properly (please ensure that you've checked through your checklist prior to completing your event setup).

Areas that are of utmost importance within the Virtual Event Module:

Ensure that your Video Embed Code link is correct (see image below).

Build out your sessions and schedule to utilize all the features of the Virtual Event.

Ensure that your tickets are tied to a Membership Level (this is a requirement for Virtual Events).

Test out your Event before going live to ensure all links are correct.
