Video Embed Codes

YouTube and Vimeo video embed codes

When adding a video embed code somewhere in your virtual event, to avoid any issues that may be caused by its format, make sure that you are using non-responsive video embed code.

We recommend keeping the default fixed size format set by the video hosting provider. Every video will be made responsive by the platform.

When managing your virtual events there are three places where video embed codes can be added:

  1. Virtual Space Settings > Virtual Event Homepage section > Video that appears at the top of the virtual event homepage
  2. Add/Edit Room page > if „Room is a live stream location“ is checked > Video Embed Code section appears
  3. New/Edit Session page > Virtual Event Settings section (for sessions with virtual availability)

In all three places we advise you to use the same non-responsive video embed code format.

Examples of the recommended video embed code formats:

Source: YouTube (default)

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/SRDh7A43yZc" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Source: Vimeo (default)

<iframe src="https://player.vimeo.com/video/339184251?h=283f72a9cb" width="640" height="360" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; fullscreen; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

IMPORTANT:

  • The code must start and end with iframe.
  • Don't add a wrapper around “iframe“. Cause Machine has a video embed code validation that will check if the iframe code is wrapped with div (if it’s responsive).

Copying Video embed code from YouTube:

  1. Click on the “SHARE” button under the video you want to embed.
  2. Click on the “Embed” option (first in line) to reveal the video embed code.
  3. Copy the provided YouTube video embed code.

(By default, this code sets a fixed size and as such works perfectly for the platform. Also, the two additional embed options don’t affect its compatibility.)

Copying Video embed code from Vimeo:

A) If provided embed code is by default set to "Fixed Size" (non-responsive).

  1. Click on the “Share” button under the video you want to embed.
  2. In the “Embed” section you can copy the provided code that is by default set to fixed size.          Note: Copy only the first code that starts and ends with </iframe>
  3. You can choose to show more options and customize the video embed code.
  4. At the bottom of the modal customizable options are shown.                                                               Note: Unchecking the “Show text link” under “Special stuff” will remove the second code from the Embed section and leave only the one we recommend you copy. More about embed code customization under B).

B) If provided embed code is by default set to "Responsive".

  1. Click on the “Share” button under the video you want to embed.
  2. Click on "+ Show options"
  3. Switch from "Responsive" to "Fixed Size"
  4. Uncheck the the “Show text link” under “Special stuff” to remove the second code from the Embed section and leave only the one we recommend you copy.                                                              Note: “Show text link” and “Show video description”, if checked, and the full code copied, will affect how the video is being displayed (corresponding text will appear over it).
  5. In addition, to make the video display even cleaner, you can uncheck the "Intro" options, thus removing the video title, channel logo, and original poster that appear over the video.
